Discovering the Library's Collections: FAQ

Search help for the Library's new search interface

What happened to the Library webpage?

We switched to a new library system so our homepage looks different. Still the same great databases, book sources and video that you have come to expect from us, just a different way of getting to it.

Can I still search just one database?

Yes. Look under the search box on the homepage or in the purple bars on the left. There are options to go to the full A-Z database list. From that list you can select your favorite.

I just want to see what’s in the Sidney Silverman Library, not the whole world. Can I do that?

Yes you can.  Enter your search words in the basic search box on the homepage.  On the results page, look to the left. The first box allows you to select Bergen Community College to narrow the results. You can also get very specific and look at just the Paramus or Lyndhurst campus.

With just one search, I can get book and article results?

Yes. One search gives you results from the library catalog and from some of our most popular databases.

How do I find textbooks for my classes?

Yes. We still have textbooks for use in the Library for 2 hours at a time. From the homepage, look for Course Reserves under the search box. You can search by course number or professor name.
