ESL Level 3 Info: Step 1 - Think - Finding a Research Topic

Step 1 - Finding a Research Topic

Below is a reading from the textbook.

Note that there are two passages highlighted in red.  These are statements I found interesting and would like to explore more.  This is the beginning of the research process, THINK

Now, I will ask myself, what could a research topic, or research question, be for each highlighted passage?

Statement 1:

It became more and more popular phrase as people started using the web and realized that it described how they felt about going online.

Research Question:

How does the web add to our information overload?  Do people avoid going online because of information overload?

Statement 2:

Palladino attributes indecisiveness, bad decisions, and stress to information overload.  Palladino says that when you're "overwhelmed by too many choices, your brain mildly freezes and ... you passively wait and see."  In other words, you become paralyzed.

Research Question:

How is stress related to information overload?

Of the two statements above, I must now decide which to investigate further.
I will choose Statement 2.
