Introduction to researching issues in political science

Overview

This guide is designed to help you get started in researching issues in political science. It provides access to some of the most useful  resources available through the Sidney Silverman Library and on the web.

How to Use This Guide

  1. Select your topic.
    1. To get some ideas, go to the Political Think Tank tab and look at the topics included on the think tank websites.. 
  2. Find background information on your topic.
    1. Use the Library Databases tab and select the Background Information box to find some useful resources. These resources will help you to refine your topic.
  3. Use the Library Databases tab and select the Research Databases box to locate some useful databases that include many sources on various aspects of political science.
  4. Use the Books tab to find books and some articles  in our library's collection. 
  5. Use the Search Strategies tab to learn how to refine your search.
